Mr Mohammed Mutawakil Kassim, National Co-ordinator of Youth League in an address at inauguration said the Centre had trained 126 SSS and JSS leavers as teachers and Imams in Arabic and Islamic studies since its establishment nine years ago.

He said they were serving in Basic Schools in the Western and Central Regions under the Islamic Educational Unit of the Ghana Education Service.

Mr Kassim appealed to the government to assist the Centre with adequate infrastructure, a library and text books to facilitate effective teaching and learning.

The National Co-ordinator commended the Gomoa District Chief Executive (DCE), Ms Joyce Aidoo for her contribution towards the construction of other classrooms at the Centre.

He called on Muslim parents to endeavour to send their children to school especially the girl-child, saying, "If you educate a man you educate an individual but if you educate a woman you educate a nation".

Sheikh Abdul Nasir, Deputy National Imam of Ahlusunawaljama called on the management of the Centre to run a Senior Secondary School programme in addition to the Arabic and Islamic courses.

He appealed to non-governmental organisations and other donors for assistance to the centre in the form of office equipment, computers and other facilities to promote learning at the Centre.

Mr Mohammed Iddrisu Arthur, Headmaster of the Centre appealed to the National Accreditation Board for approval to enable the Centre to award its certificate.

He also appealed for means of transport for the effective running of the Centre.
